Wow! Another week gone! No puede ser.
Something I forgot to mention about last week that was funny was that my companion and I had the wonderful opportunity to push a taxi. We were running late to an appointment and decided to call a taxi. No one was offering, but we were able to flag one down. We got in and started driving. Not even 2 minutes later, the taxi broke down. If you can imagine two young women in skirts pushing a taxi out of a busy road with the cabi in front, steering, that's what we ended up doing. Needless to say, we got our weight-lifting in for the week.
Well, this week was... pretty amazing. My companion and I are getting along great. Hermana de Leon is a hard worker and we have been blessed so much this week. We were able to find 14 new investigators including 3 new families to teach.
We had a great experience meeting one of the families (O, R, and their 3 children). They were a referral of a sister that lives in another area that is about to be baptized. We took a taxi because we had no idea how to get to their home and, as it would happen, the cabi didn't even know where it was we were going. It was an interesting, and expensive, 20-minute ride. :) We finally arrived and were able to meet them and helped them make tamales. We cleaned palm leaves for 3 hours. But, it was fun!
The next family we met this week (L, O, and their 3 children), were also a referral of a member in our ward. They are really great and we will be meeting again with them this week. The third family we found through contacting the husband on the street in front of his house. Their names are R, N, J, N, and A. They accepted us into their home right away and I felt the spirit very strongly as we testified of eternal families. I asked N and R how they felt about having their beautiful family. They both replied, "Good, of course. We are happy." I then asked them what was said when they got married. "Until death do you part." I asked them if they wanted to be together for more than death. "Of course," they replied. "But, I don't know if it is possible," N responded. I testified to her that it is possible and that as representatives of Jesus Christ, we are here to help them find how they can be an eternal family.
On Friday, we met with some more referrals (M and D). M is the boyfriend of one of the members of our ward and D is his sister. M has some walls built up, but we will keep working with him. D, on the other hand, seems very ready. We actually were only planning on meeting and teaching M, but she happened to be there and we took advantage of the opportunity. She is 17-years-old and has a young daughter. When we asked her what God meant in her life, she joked, "The one who created us and left us here to suffer." And then she started crying. We testified to her that God is not only our creator, but our Father as well. He loves us and never abandons us. She is such a great young woman. I know she is my sister and I know that she has great potential. She has accepted a baptismal date for January 4!
And to end another wonderful week in the service of the Lord, S and J were baptized on Sunday! We are so happy for them! This coming Sunday, they will be able to receive the Holy Ghost. How amazing is this gospel and the love that our Heavenly Father has for us! He loves us so much and has given us the way to feel closer to Him. This gospel is true. I love sharing it and I love my Savior!
Remember that you are all children of a Heavenly Father who LOVES YOU!
Con amor,
Hermana Whitman
